Summary
Fox Valley Technical College is establishing a pool of qualified candidates for Casual - Lab Aide. Lab Aides are dynamic partners for both students and the College. A Lab Aide collaborates and coordinates with faculty in the Allied Health Programs. Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide set-up for classes/events, and assist FVTC faculty during the class/event.
* Facilitate collaboration amongst Health programs to optimize use of existing technologies and to assist in interdisciplinary educational opportunities for students as needed.
* Determine equipment malfunctions and perform minor repair or arrange/oversee repair as needed.
* Manage equipment and inventory as needed.
* Organize, plan and move supplies, equipment and furniture as needed.
* Participates in special projects and events with outside contractors.
* Provides promotion of simulation center and health programs through various experiences.
* Attends, assists with, and participates in college, division, and department meetings and events relevant to position.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE
* Knowledge of medical terminology, basic and advanced anatomy and physiology concepts and disease process, both simple and complex, AND
* Proficiency with lab skills that will be assisting faculty with.
* An equivalent combination of related education, training, and experience.
* Proficiency with MS Office Suite, PC and MAC/Apple Operating systems is preferred

Position Summary:

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of laboratory staff and trainees.
- Analyze, coordinate, supervise, and manage daily laboratory operations and during outbreak events.
- Plan, prepare, and supervise laboratory services relating to regulatory standards and organization's policies.
- Prioritize, schedule, assign, and monitor work to optimize operational service.
- Ensure all regulatory and safety standards are followed and serves as a resource for accreditation compliance.
- Manage laboratory purchase of inventory, storage, and supplies usage.
- Assist the Unit Chief and/or Director with laboratory activities and operations.
- Participate in cross-training program within PHL to assist with routine and surge events.
- Help establish or modify technical and non-technical procedures as needed.
- Perform high and moderate complexity laboratory testing and procedures on clinical and environmental specimens submitted to the PHL.
- Generate and release reports, maintain records, and perform tasks related to laboratory testing.

Position Summary:
This position will play an integral role in laboratory testing and responding to public health threats, including but not limited to COVID-19, vaccine preventable diseases, HIV, Legionella as well as respiratory, foodborne, and waterborne disease outbreaks. Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Supervise, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of laboratory staff and trainees.
* Analyze, coordinate, supervise, and manage daily laboratory operations and during outbreak events.
* Plan, prepare, and supervise laboratory services relating to regulatory standards and organization's policies.
* Prioritize, schedule, assign, and monitor work to optimize operational service.
* Ensure all regulatory and safety standards are followed and serves as a resource for accreditation compliance.
* Manage laboratory purchase of inventory, storage, and supplies usage.
* Assist the Unit Chief and/or Director with laboratory activities and operations.
* Participate in cross-training program within PHL to assist with routine and surge events.
* Help establish or modify technical and non-technical procedures as needed.
* Perform high and moderate complexity laboratory testing and procedures on clinical and environmental specimens submitted to the PHL.
* Generate and release reports, maintain records, and perform tasks related to laboratory testing.
* Maintain a program of quality control, participating in a program of quality assurance, and taking corrective action when needed.

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in medical technology or in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences, and one year of laboratory experience at the technologist level in the appropriate laboratory specialty or specialties; or

Required Qualifications*

Program and Job Description: The Public Health Laboratory (PHL) seeks one qualified candidate to serve as a supervisor in the Environmental Sciences section. The position will be assigned to the Wastewater Surveillance Unit and Whole Genome Sequencing Unit in the Environmental Sciences Section at PHL.

Implementing and monitoring laboratory quality, and health and safety policies and procedures.
Performing or overseeing the design and maintenance of charts, logs, and other records.
Assisting with inventory, budgeting, and procurement to ensure that laboratory is properly stocked with reagents and supplies necessary for testing; and ensure that items are properly tracked using inventory management system.
Writing original manuscripts for publication based on data analysis.
Assisting the Unit Chief and/or Director with routine laboratory activities and operations.
Preferred Skills:
Experience performing whole genome sequencing using next-generation sequencing technology.
Experience working with pathogenic organisms in a BSL2 environment.
Basic microbiology and molecular biology techniques including automated nucleic acid extraction and real-time and digital PCR.
Ability to interpret complex laboratory data and communicate that data to internal and external partners using independent judgement and initiative.
Supervisory experience in an environmental or clinical diagnostic testing laboratory.
Some experience with laboratory quality and safety.
