Job Duties
Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy Utilizes radiology information systems to facilitate care Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol (including placement of IV) Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards. Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted. Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance, etc.) Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style. Other related duties as required.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Position description
Produces high quality images that meet the standards established by the Mayo Clinic Radiology Department. Requires competence in a variety of equipment and technology. Practices safety guidelines for themselves, support personnel and patients. Fosters teamwork through effective communication. Maintains flexibility to staff various work locations, shift times and lengths. Ability to work varied hours, shift lengths and respond to an on-call pager which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays and weekends required.
Qualifications
Must have an Associate's degree in a related field and be a graduate an accredited radiography program. Incumbents hired into the role prior to February 15, 2018 are required to meet the previous requirements of graduating from an accredited radiography program.
Additional qualifications
Organized, efficient and multifunctional. Ability to work independently. Requires excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrates effective communication.
License or certification
ARRT certified in Radiography or registry eligible with certification obtained before start date of employment. ARRT certified in Radiography or registry. Annual documentation of ARRT certification required. All incumbents are required to obtain ARRT(CT) certification within 18 months of employment. NMTCB or ARRT(N) applicants require ARRT(CT) certification at time of hire. CPR/BLS Certified or obtained within 90 days of employment.
