Job Purpose and Impact
The Carrier Operator will help coordinate inbound and outbound logistical operations, including inventory management, warehousing and transportation to ensure sufficient supply of goods and products. In this role, you will execute tasks and resolve more complex issues for standard modes of transport during shipments within a single country.
Key Accountabilities
* Independently collect and organize fleet related information from internal and external clients and customers and conduct computer data entry to track and document movement.
* Organize an effective system that meets the organization's inventory control needs through efficient transportation of raw materials.
* Monitor activities from receiving, locating and dispatching, sourcing, purchasing and optimizing inventory levels.
* Help plan and direct our fleet activities.
* Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.
* Other duties as assigned

Job Summary

Buchheit Logistics, a carrier of dry bulk and finished goods, is seeking a safety-minded, results-driven trucking Fleet Manager to assist our logistics efforts nationwide. This position oversees the planning and day-to-day operations of the fleet while ensuring compliance with federal regulations as well as company safety standards.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building relationships with both internal and external customers and assisting our team of professional drivers to safely and efficiently meet our customer's expectations, while maximizing fleet utilization, continued growth and profitability.
This position requires the ability to multitask, self-motivate, and communicate effectively. Must have ability to positively interact with all levels of management, other team members and drivers. Transportation industry experience preferred, dispatching experience a plus.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Required to work in the office - NOT A REMOTE POSITION
This position directly supervises drivers and may require being "on-call" after-hours and weekends.
Keep current with transportation regulations, industry trends and best practices.
Communicate with internal and external customers to maintain strong working relationships and serve as point of contact to answer questions and resolve problems or conflict to minimize delays and maximize utilization.
Coordinate between supervisor, customers and drivers to balance safety and profitability with customer expectations.
Reinforce compliance with safety, fuel / routing, fuel mileage, idle time and customer service, coach drivers as necessary.
Serve as driver's supervisor to manage Driver KPIs and improve driver performance and retention.
Ensure freight orders and load confirmations are entered into Transportation Management Software (TMS) system to generate freight bills and respective invoices.
Plan loads and schedule loading/unload appointments to maximize customer and driver satisfaction.
Dispatch drivers in compliance with company policy, federal guidelines and FMCSA Hours of Service regulations.
Communicate effectively to ensure drivers have necessary information to successfully complete load assignments.
Continuously improve fleet utilization to minimize dead head miles.
Coordinate with Maintenance Department to schedule equipment maintenance and repairs.
Ensure trailers and freight are tracked using company's TMS to service customer needs.
Assist Fleet Manager to book freight and maximize utilization of equipment.
Assist Fleet Manager to broker freight to outside carriers and negotiate rates as necessary.
Assist Fleet Manager to ensure that broker contracts/files are compliant and complete.
Fast paced work environment which requires successful candidate to multitask, be flexible, organized and constantly assess shifting priorities.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
3+ years of Over the Road driver management experience required
Strong social media skills preferred.
Basic Computer skills: Microsoft Office, E-mail, and Internet based tools
Strong verbal, written, multi-tasking, and communication skills
Ability to work with truck drivers and independent contractor drivers required.
Knowledge of relevant equipment, regulations, policies, procedures, and strategies preferred.
Knowledge of principles and methods for moving goods by air, rail, sea, or road preferred.
Familiar with North American geography and the highway system and relevant points preferred.

What you will do:
Receives road service request information from Member Service Counselors and dispatches calls to facilities using a variety of communication channels (e.g., radio, telephone, digital/computer data link, fax, AVL). Relays all pertinent data to drivers (member situation, vehicle problem, location, etc.) When necessary, performs spotting duties to geographically code and assists drivers in finding member/disabled vehicle.

SAFETY
The Dispatcher (Safety and Security) will be responsible for maintaining operational control of communications for the Atlanta Public Schools Telecommunications Call Center. Responsible for operating various sophisticated technological equipment, monitoring life safety systems, processing and dispatching emergency & non-emergency calls, among other duties as assigned by management. Serves as a major artery to the APS body, as the alarm monitoring center is from where information is collected and disseminated District-wide. The call center is a manifold operation, serving as an emergency operations center, a technical support center, a monitoring center, and a customer service call center. The dispatcher is required to perform in each of those capacities while demonstrating optimal customer service skills. The call center 24/7, 365 days of the year; therefore, the dispatcher must be able to perform shift work, including holidays, weekends, mandatory overtime, and serve in an on-call rotations capacity.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
• High School Diploma or GED required. • Associate's degree preferred.
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
• Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification required within the first 6 months of employment. • Must be able to maintain certifications required by standard operating procedures and state law.
WORK EXPERIENCE: • 3 years of call center work experience in law enforcement, security environment or customer service required.
